keeping up....

Ok so since I'm kinda new to this whole blogging thing I know I'm not going to keep up with it as I should. And technically its already tomorrow and I've missed a day but people don't want to know everything about every single day right? idk, I guess I'm just not that interesting lol. Plus I am working these three nights so it makes it hard to blog when you work 12 hour shifts but alas I will try to stay on task. I have not been that great on my diet today, well scratch that I have done ok, just cheated a little with a few Doritos's... damn my co-workers! oh and one chicken mc nugget from another co-worker! but other than those two cheats I have done very well. I made a new concoction today with some whole wheat pita like things that mrs Ashley turned me on to, only 100 calories, and then some sliced turkey, spinach leaves, and a low fat low cal cream cheese spread, all in all not bad as far as calories and fat and quite satisfying, it will definitely be a keeper. So now the only problem is that I am seriously considering leaving my spinach salad with salmon right in the fridge where it is and going down stairs to the cafeteria and getting some fried fattening very delicious food!... *sigh* so there's the rub, I've already cheated a little so do I just scrap the whole day and get some good yummy grub to make it worth it or do I continue on and choke down my rabbit food?..... Stay tuned for the answer! lol

Good start...

So in my effort to be healthier, loose weight and get to half marathon running status I'm trying to stay eating good, that is my biggest vice. I can get the exercise down but not giving into temptation really is trying... I am pretty good when I'm at home since when I go to the grocery store I'm dead set on only buying the good stuff. It's only when I'm at work or invited out to eat with friends that my will power fails me. Which boy do my friends like to eat out! So any way in an effort to help with the diet area I'm half-assing the weight watchers diet. I say half-ass because I don't want to actually pay for it so I just looked it all up online lol. I looked up my age and height and all that to figure out that I have 23 points a day and get that you add more points when you exercise but I'm thinking I may just stick to the 23. You also get 35 extra per week to use all at once or add a few extra every day. And there is a good online point calculator that I'm using to add up my points. So I have been doing pretty good and it seems to be working without me being hungry much. Cooking is also not my strong suit so this is a double hard journey, learning to eat well AND how to cook! So I cooked myself a recipe that I found in The Biggest Looser cookbook for some pecan crusted chicken, also had some steamed veggies and long grain wild rice. It turned out really yummy! It wasn't' quite as "healthy" as I had hoped as it ended up being 10 points! Total calories were 473, fat 16, carbs 45 and fiber 6. But all I had during the day was a bowl of oatmeal with a glass of juice and then for lunch a tuna fish and crackers meal thingy. So I was still below my allotted points. So I guess so far I'm doin well and hopefully I can stay on track! Here is a pic of my yummy creation...

Definatly Maybe

Alright alright I'm gonna do it! Ugh.... so I've been talking about doing either a half marathon or triathlon for a while now but cant ever seem to get myself to actually start training for it.... So OK, I'm gonna do it. I'm blogging about it so I have to right?... *sigh* well we'll see but I did finally go get a training schedule off a website that I like and I am seriously going to start on monday. Its just hard since I work nights and sometimes 3 or 4 in a row to come home and end up running 5-6 miles and then sleep and go right back to work for a 12 hour shift overnight... but hey it can be done and what is the worst that will happen because of it? I'll be a little tired? Well then in comes my motto of "sleep when your dead" Which I love to say.... when its about doing something fun ;-) not necessarily about exercise or work or any other non-fun things. I wanted to try to post the schedule here but it doesn't seem to want to paste well. Anyway it will also give me something to blog about, instead of random nothingness and "my boring life". So here we go!..... (i'm tired already) ;-)

Cookies!!!

So one of my besties recently got engaged, Yay!!! Her name is Valorie and we've been expecting it for a little while now but still awesome excitement when it happened, they were on a vacation up in Tenn with his family when he poped the question. And now she has asked me to be a bridesmaid!!! I'm soo very excited! She is so crafty and asked me in such a creative way, she made little cards with our names on them and gave them to us with a jar full of cookie mix and the card said "you sweeten my life every day, would you sweeten my wedding day and be my bridesmaid!?"

I was so moved I cried when I read it. Call me a sap but we were fairly new "close" friends and didn't know if we had reached that level in our friendship so I was touched when she asked me :-). So anyway I finally made the cookies today and they were quite tasty! I documented the procedure below because I am a dork and again with the love of picture taking...

The start of the process....

hmm... to bake or to just eat the cookie dough!? That is the question!

Smelling good!

The finished product! They were tasty but I am trying to be on a diet so it was a little evil of her to give me such tasty treats! Well my boyfriend loves chocolate chip cookies so maybe he'll eat them before I have a chance to!
